The Doctor’s Deception
Kathleen Grieve
Contemporary romance
Available from The Wild Rose Press
ISBN: 1-60154-287-9
June 2008

Ms. Kathleen Grieve has written an interesting, bolding told, story about a one-track cardiologist and a nurse determined to enter medical school. She has taken the two strong personalities and proved that opposites, or not so opposites, could attract the other. The two were constantly supported by other characters, but their relationship took center stage.

The outcome of, and circumstances for, this relationship were believable and interesting. The way this story ended is unusual. The plot was well written; the storyline compelling. I highly recommend this story to all who love a great story with a happily ever after.

Overall rating: 4 1/2 hearts out of 5
Sensuality rating: Very sensual

DIABETES MONDAY~FACT #17~FRUIT & VEGGIES???

I came across this snippet of an article the other day and thought you all might be interested:

Fruit Reduces Diabetes Risk
Taken from August - 5 - 2008 News summaries © 2008 Information, Inc

A new study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine found that eating more fruits and vegetables may decrease the risk of diabetes. The study indicates that a higher plasma vitamin C level and, to a lesser degree, fruit and vegetable intake, were linked to a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. The findings were based on a 12-year population cohort study involving more than 21,000 individuals in Norfolk, England, between 40 and 75 years of age. The average age of the participants was 58.

The data indicated that the risk of developing diabetes was 62 percent lower for those in the top fifth of the population sample compared to those in the bottom fifth. A similar but weaker inverse association was discovered with the consumption of fruits and vegetables and the risk of diabetes. "Because fruit and vegetables are the main sources of vitamin C, the findings suggest that eating even a small quantity of fruit and vegetables may be beneficial and that the protection against diabetes increases progressively with the quantity of fruit and vegetables consumed," according to the study authors.

THE GHOST INSIDE RELEASED TODAY!!!!

This is one of my favorite book covers! The Ghost Inside is jj Keller's new release from The Cobblestone Press being released today!! Here is a little bit more about the book and where to buy it! Enjoy!

BLURB, THE GHOST INSIDE
The Ames Mansion, mysterious and foreboding, is believed to be haunted.
Though it’s been in her family since 1825, Jacey Hewson intends to sell it.
First she has to find antique swords rumored to be hidden somewhere on the estate.

Griff Carpenter runs a profitable construction business, but he needs cash to pay
off a blackmailer. Griff takes the job to renovate the apocalypse estate. What he doesn’t count on, is his growing attraction for the new owner.

Two hearts lost in an intrigue of mystical suspense.

EXCERPT: #1

“Hewson, I’m serious. You can’t go to that creepy mansion by yourself.” Ericka Gilmore flipped the belt from her black sweater over and back across her hand. She was model thin, yet insisted on wearing black, claiming it reflected her dark personality.

Jacey shoved a pair of jeans in her luggage. “I can’t wait on Matt. You know how long it takes him to close a real estate deal, and I need to do this. You understand, right?” She glanced at her best friend and tried out a woebegone expression.

Ericka rolled her amber-tinted eyes. Jacey suppressed a laugh.

“Like your ex-boyfriend would be of any benefit to you.” Ericka snorted. “Why, exactly, did he agree to help you anyway?”

“Guilt. He’s afraid of bad karma. You know, sleeping with her while he was in a monogamous relationship with me. He wants to make it right.”

“Make it right?” Ericka pulled her long caramel-hued hair into a twisted knot at the nape of her neck. “Please.” She yawned.

“He thinks if he helps me move my stuff to Aunt Megan’s, then we’d be even.” She tugged the window open to allow fresh air inside. The multiple layers of paint split off and fell onto the ledge. The heavy afternoon traffic along Meridian Street added a pleasant hum to mix with Rob Thomas’ heavenly voice crooning his version of how a heart breaks. “Besides I could use the muscle.”

“So, you really only dated him because of his good looks, not because of his brains.” Ericka snickered.

“That and the fact he’s well hung.” Jacey winked at her.

“They broke up two days ago,” Ericka divulged, her expression sly.

“For real?” Jacey curved her mouth into a moue.

Ericka nodded and stared at Jacey, like she’d expected her to break out in a dance or something.

“Poor guy, all alone.” She shook out a tiny pair of shorts. “And he’ll stay alone, because he’s not coming back to me. Anyway, the estate manager arranged for a guy to meet me tomorrow, and we’re going to talk construction. He’ll do his thing. You’ll come and we’ll stage it to sell. Sound like a good plan?”

Ericka stuffed a make-up case with the essentials: base, eye shadow, lipstick, and lotions. “Yes. I ‘m excited. I need a vacation.”

“Just think, in one month it’ll all be a part of the past and I’ll be closer to my future.” Jacey threw an extra pair of wool socks into the luggage, in case the house was as cold as she remembered.

“Can’t you do all of the transactions from here?” Ericka removed a pair of rust stained jeans from the bright red luggage and tossed them in the waste can.
Jacey extracted the pants from the trash and put them back in the bag.

“No, because of the swords. They’re collectibles and I intend to have them. With a teaching salary it will take years before I can own an antique business. If I find the swords I’ll be set.”

FAMILY~

I'm not sure if it is getting older, or if the trigger is being faced with my parents mortality, but I've been thinking alot about family lately. How important making those connections are; making time for my children; and changing my life for the better.

Have you ever gotten stuck in a rutt? A cycle that you just can't seem to break? Focusing on all that stagnant energy is kind of depressing, but it forces you to make changes. That is where I'm at right now. I'm trying to make positive changes in order to grow as a person and live a happy life.

How about you? Have you made any changes or taken stock of your life lately?

Take care,
Kathleen

DIABETES MONDAY~FACT #16~STEP OUT: WALK TO FIGHT DIABETES

Any one can walk in order to help raise money for diabetes research. And we all should get out there and doing something because diabetes affects every single family in America in one way or another.

The following was taken from the ADA Website:

21 million children and adults in the U.S. suffer from diabetes. It's America's fastest growing disease.

By taking part in this event, you'll be stepping out onto the streets to help change this growing epidemic. Here are a few more reasons you should take pride in participating in Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes:

Nearly one in 10 American adults now has diabetes.
Diabetes is the fifth leading cause of death by disease in the U.S.
One out of every three Americans born today will develop diabetes in their lifetime if present trends continue.
Each year, more than 80,000 people with diabetes undergo amputation.
Nearly 6.2 million people (nearly one-third) of the 21 million children and adults in the U.S. living with diabetes are unaware that they have the disease.
It's Not a Walk for Heart Disease, Stroke or Kidney Disease. And Yet It Is.

Diabetes can, and does, lead to a wide range of other serious health complications. By participating in Step Out, you're not just walking and raising funds to eliminate one disease. You're also battling cardiovascular problems, kidney failure, blindness, lower limb amputations, and much more.

Register for Step Out online at this link:
